Tacky Booth Coating, Water washable coating for booth walls. Water based tacky coating Tacky Booth Coating is a clear aqueous solution of resins and tackifiers specially formulated for application to spray booth walls by brush or spray. The film does not completely dry out at ambient temperature, and it has a tacky surface which collects and holds dust thus greatly assisting in keeping the spray booth area free of airborne particles. When contaminated with dust or overspray, the tacky surface coating can easily be washed off with water or pressure washer.

Tacky Booth Coating 2329 is a water based product designed to protect booth walls and equipment from paint overspray. It is applied by spray, brush or roller and leaves a clear tacky film. It is removed with a water rinse.

Tacky Oven Coating 1493 is a solvent based product for use in paint back off ovens. It is stable up to temperatures of 325 °F. It attracts airborne particles and prevents them from harming the painted finish of the vehicle. It is removed by raising the temperature to 450 °F, at which point it decomposes to CO2 and water, or by a solvent wash such as mineral spirits.

A fresh coat of Tacky Booth Coating can then be applied to the booth walls On New Booths which are internally painted or plastic coated, we recommend the surface is prewashed with 2-5% solution of cleaner to remove any grease or contamination and then dry off before application of Tacky Booth Coating to give an unbroken film.

BY SPRAY: Use a spray gun with a fluid tip of 25 - 70 thou (0.635-1.8mm). A single pass using a fairly wide fan should give sufficient coverage, ensuring that a continuous coating is applied – no bare patches.

BY PAINT BRUSH OR PASTE BRUSH: apply a thin coat only, to avoid runs.

BY ROLLER: As single coat is adequate. Tacky Booth Coating is suitable for application to most factory finished paint spray booths where the paintwork may be 2 pack polyurethane, 2 pack epoxy, or other stove converted paint. In Spray Bake booths where temperatures 50-80 deg C are regularly attained Tacky Booth Coating will need to be replaced more often, as it will eventually dry out making paint overspray difficult to remove. The coating will remain effective for up to 50 hrs at low bake temperatures and should be replenished every 2-4 weeks in most circumstances, either by over coating with fresh product or washing down and then reapplication. Tacky Booth Coating is easily removed from booth walls by washing with water, it is very readily soluble. Where paint overspray has landed on the booth wall as a discrete mist of paint, it will be possible to wash away the underlying Tacky Booth Coating film to obtain a clean wall. When paint overspray forms a complete paint film on the booth wall it is much more difficult to wash away the underlying Tacky Booth Coating because there is no access for the water to dissolve the coating. Scoring the surface will aid water penetration
Tacky Booth Coating
It is reasonable to expect 8 - 10 square meters/liters. After the water has evaporated away the tacky coating should be 1 - 2 thou (0.02 – 0.04mm) thick.

Tacky Booth Coating may not be suitable for use on top of uncured paints such as cellulose or household paints especially if the booth is heated to low bake temperatures. In these cases there could be some interaction of the paint film with the Tacky Booth Coating film.

Tacky Booth Coating is not suitable for use on steel or galvanized booth walls because repeated washing with water as part of the booth maintenance procedure can cause corrosion (rust and white rust).
